Day 45 of 365 Things to Do in Gig Harbor ~ Rosedale Market
Here are some of the many reviews you can find online about the Rosedale Market:
Love the Rosedale Market, the owners are really cool, they treat everyone really well. The upgrades to the store reflect the neighborhood, it’s cozy, well stocked, friendly and convenient! Way to go Ken and Carol!! (Eric too!)
Rosedale Market is the best small town hangout ever! The people are friendly and love their customers. Aside from the great selection of groceries, they boast a custom deli counter and all day espresso. The small indoor/outdoor dining areas provide a home-like atmosphere perfect for anyone. Come in and be treated like family!
I found the Rosedale Market while videoing around the Rosedale area and I was greatly surprised by how good the deli was and the friendliness of the patrons and the owners. Thanks, Ken and Carol, for letting me shoot at your store!

Day 44 of 365 Things to Do in Gig Harbor ~ Rosedale Gardens Part 3
This will be a three part series on Rosedale Gardens. You might be thinking why such a long video? The simple answer is there is so much there. From a great plant, tree and flower nursery to the gift shop with some amazing stuff and then the Art Walk and Nature Trail, there is a lot more than meets the eye at Rosedale Gardens.
When my wife and I moved to Gig Harbor, Rosedale was one of the first places we went to check out what we were going to do for our landscaping. They are especially noted for their dwarf evergreens, a subject in which my wife has much interest. These were plants we didn’t see in California.
If you are in need of landscaping or have some questions about Rosedale or Gig Harbor real estate, please give me a call at 253-225-2158 or go here.
Thanks to Tim Ratcliff and Ken Bailey for their song Rose!

I had to break the video up into three parts to get the entire essence of Rosedale Gardens. The first segment is based around the gift shop and the hanging plant area. Enjoy!

Day 41 of 365 Things to Do in Gig Harbor ~ Sunrise Beach Park
Sunrise Beach Park is an undeveloped 82 acre scenic site in the Peninsula area with over 2,400 feet of waterfront on Colvos Passage just north of Gig Harbor. This Marine Preserve is a popular diving destination with a unique wall dive in a high current area that supports large animals used to human presence. Although a relative small area, the system of small outcroppings continues from a kelp-forested wall at 35 feet down to a second wall at 80 feet and a series of many smaller outcroppings.
Day 38 of 365 Things to Do in Gig Harbor ~ Gardens of Fox Island part 2
Last Saturday while I was showing houses on Fox Island there was a curious caravan of folks going from place to place. I decided to follow them and this is what I found out. This was the 8th annual Gardens of Fox Island Tour and featured five hidden gardens the public usually cannot see because they are private homes. In addition to the gardens there were two other events going on:
At the Community Center:
- Art Show by Local Artists
- Garden Theme Vendors
- Coffee
- Boxed Lunches
At the Museum
- Afternoon Tea
- Antique Apron Display
All proceeds from the tour go to the Fox Island Historical Museum, The Nichols Community Center (the old Schoolhouse) and the Chapel on Echo Bay. While I didn’t get to all five of the gardens there was plenty to see in the three I did video. As promised, here is part 2 of the garden tour:
If you would like to know more about Fox Island or its real estate give me a call at 253-225-2158 or go here.

Day 36 of 365 Things to Do in Gig Harbor ~ Fox Island Fishing Pier
The ‘Fox Island Concrete Pier‘ is a great fishing spot, located at Toy Point on the eastern tip of Fox Island. This unique fishing pier was built by the Department of Fishing and Wildlife and is managed by the Pierce County Parks Department. It is comprised of a beautiful accessible fishing dock with paved pathway and handrails for safety in a picturesque setting. Plenty of parking is available. There is a small fee required for this day use site. Currently there is a $1 donation for parking.
The pier offers views over to University Place in Greater Tacoma as well as the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Fishing, clamming and crabbing are some of the favorite activities. One unique feature of the park is the ability to be a Guest Host for up to two months which includes a full RV hook up!
Here is the video, enjoy!

Day 35 of 365 Things to Do in Gig Harbor ~ Fox Island History Museum
Probably like many of you, I had never delved into Fox Island History but since I was out showing houses on the same day as the annual garden tour I decided to delve. The garden tour benefits the museum as one of the recipients of the funds, so I thought it would be good to start off Fox Island week here at 365 with a tour of the museum. Enjoy!

Special thanks to AudioCat for their song History!
